Welcome to our friendly commune!
Google Sketchup won't let me make an Alias to it
Why? OS X tells me I "don't have sufficient privileges" but I'm the stinking administrator!
Re: tech help in here maybe
Welcome! We think this is a great place to ask questions. Ask away.
tech help in here maybe
New to this forum and a fairly new Apple owner. I thought this would be a good place to come to ask questions
Re: Help me fill up my iPod Touch
The networked apps will, of course, stop working when out of WiFi range, so perhaps not as useful as with an iPhone, however I have:
NYTimes
sync up before going out then it is fully readable. Other choices for news that do the same and work well include USA Today and WSJ.
Remote controls: Air Mouse (acts as mouse for computer), Boxee (remote for Boxee), and Apples own "Remote" for iTunes.
Other: Dual Level Pro (level), Google Earth.
All are free but Air Mouse and Dual Level Pro.
Games for killing time when waiting, of course, but those are a matter of individual taste.
Re: Help me fill up my iPod Touch
Another place to visit, other than the App store, is the Apple forum website devoted to the iPod Touch.

'Macsimum News' Article Comments and Discussions
Unless you have easy and frequent access to wifi you won't be much interested in online apps. The gym I go to every morning happens to have awesome wifi, so I download stuff there while I'm working out. Mostly news from USA today and AP Mobile, both free apps.
Offline, the ones I use most are:
~Stanza (the best ebook reader) BookZ is another, with a huge library of free ebooks.
~Custom Sounds of Nature (or CSON) helps me fall asleep at night.
~WriteRoom for any serious journaling.
~ShapeWriter is a great app once you get the hang of it. Pretty amazing accuracy. (If you get it, try the word "typewriter" or "territory". Both use all top row letters and it gets it right!)
~mySticky is used for shopping lists and all kinds of other quick shorts notes-to-self.
~I downloaded Flashlight, but it's not necessary. Any screen is bright enough to shed light to see by.
~Units is a conversion tool of weights and measurements.
~Knot Time shows you (by video) how to tie a whole bunch of different knots
~iHandy Carpenter turns your iTouch into a level (round or straight), a plumb, a measuring tape or a protractor. Both the levels and plumb also give an incline reading.
That ought to get you started!
Re: Mac G5 Quad 2.5
Stay away from any liquid-cooled PM G5s. I would look for a Mac Pro, even if it was used.
Re: iwork - numbers

You would Replicate the formula pretty much the same was as in Excel.
Select the cell and put your cursor over the little dot in the lower right corner until the cross-hairs turn black (a second or so).
Then, holding down the Left mouse button drag the corner down (it will expand) and you should see it filling in the boxes as you go.
I imagine with 8000 lines you may have to stop and continue a few times.
Re: iwork - numbers
Thank You... I am new to the MAC family.
Now I am trying to figure out how to replicate?
Re: Plustek 7500i SE Review
The chart had good information.... hmmm... do I want to buy a scanner from a company that can't put a clear image of a chart on its website.
Re: Mac G5 Quad 2.5
It seems foolish to spend much money repairing a G5 when you can buy a new Mac Pro for $2500...
or a 24" iMac for $1,499.
EDIT: What will you be using it for?
EDIT: I should read more carefully. Design Firm, duh.
Re: Mobile me
Especially since i changed it 6 to 8 times and received conformation each time it was changed...
