imageXsilva Systems, maker of a suite of retail tools tailored for the Mac, has announced the expansion of the e-commerce capabilities of its flagship LightSpeed portfolio with the upcoming release of Web Store 2.0.

LightSpeed Web Store provides retailers with a PHP- and CSS-based e-commerce site that engages online shoppers with fully customizable templates. For Web Store 2.0, Xsilva’s development team has rebuilt the application from the ground up with a database-driven system that offers retailers a host of new features. Web Store 2.0 features a SQL database server back end that allows individual customer accounts and secure customer logins. Customers can now create and manage their own accounts and easily track their history.

LightSpeed Web Store is an add-on to Xsilva’s LightSpeed suite of retail tools that’s purchased separately. LightSpeed combines a point-of-sale (POS) solution for front-counter retail with back-office functions such as inventory management, order processing and billing. Contact Xsilva for pricing. LightSpeed Web Store 2.0 will be generally available in January.
