Hamrick Software has released Vuescan 8.4.82, a new version of the VueScan software for Mac OS X that’s designed to let users produce better digital images from color snapshots, negatives, slides and documents. It now supports over 1,200 scanners and 24 languages.
“Our goal is to make VueScan the universal scanning application. We now support 1200 scanners on Windows, 750 on Mac OS X and 580 scanners on Linux,” says Ed Hamrick, President of Hamrick Software. “Our next goal is to add more advanced scanning features, such as scanning multiple photos placed randomly on a scanner (auto image segmentation) and integrating Google’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) code. All of these advanced scanning features will work with all of the 1200 supported scanners, in all 24 languages, on all three operating systems—a truly universal scanning application.”
The Standard Edition of VueScan costs US$59.95 and the Professional Edition is $79.95 for a single user license. Multi-user licenses are available. A fully functional, trial copy of VueScan is available for download from the Hamrick web site.
