Ultrasone, distributor for German headphone manufacturer Ultrasone AG, has announced the HFI-15G, the smallest headphone in the Ultrasone HFI line. However, it still features Ultrasone’s patented S-Logic Natural Surround Sound technology.
The HFI-15G (US$109) are open-back, supra-aural headphones. Thanks to Ultrasone’s S-Logic technology, the new HFI-15G allows the user to experience a natural surround sound sensation without the use of digital processing, says Ultrasonic President Paul Taylor. Additionally, S-Logic technology reduces sound pressure on the ear drum by up to 40 percent, resulting in a safer listening experience for the user, he adds.
All of this is made possible by utilizing a decentralized driver position. S-Logic directs sound to the listener’s outer ear as opposed to directing sound into the inner ear. The human ear relies on the outer ear for three-dimensional understanding or defining the direction and distance where a sound comes from.
