imageThere have been rumors that the Hewlett Packard-branded iPod would disappear. If there were any differences between HP and Apple on the matter, they seem to have been resolved. HP has announced two additions to its Apple iPod line. They’re the company’s version of the iPod photo.

The Apple iPod from HP is now available in two sizes – 30GB (which holds up to 7,500 songs) and 60GB (which holds up to 15,000 songs). The new players can also store up to 25,000 digital photos and display them on a color display. You can use an optional audio-visual cable accessory to share slideshows on big screen televisions and projectors.

Like Apple’s revamped iPod line, the HP iPods come with a USB 2.0 cable to connect to a PC for syncing music, playlists, photos and album artwork. (Many Mac users have been unhappy that Apple has quit shipping FireWire cables with iPods.) Battery life has purportedly been extended to 15 hours of music playback or up to five hours of slideshows (the same battery life that Apple promises for the Apple branded iPod).

The new iPods are also compatible with HP Printable Tattoos, HP’s innovative way to allow consumers to personalize their iPods with artwork, designs and photography. At http://www.hp.com/music, consumers can find a gallery full of tattoo designs, including album art from the hottest bands and recording artists, as well as unique artwork and images.

You can also upload your own photos and images to print as Tattoos at home. The thin HP Printable Tattoos are designed to be applied and removed from the iPod’s exterior. They’re water-resistant and help protect the musical device from scratches, according to HP.

HP Printable Tattoos are sold in 10-packs of printable glossy paper that are pre-cut to fit any Apple iPod from HP. The retail price for HP Printable Tattoos is US$14.99. The Apple iPod from HP 30GB is $349 and the Apple iPod from HP 60GB is $449. HP also continues to offer the Apple iPod from HP 20GB for $299.
