Tiger to be the ‘star’ at Macworld Conference & Expo in Boston

Mac OS X 10.4 (“Tiger”) will play a prominent role at Macworld Conference & Expo in Boston, according to the folks at IDG World Expo, producers of the show.

The event will take place July 11-14 at the Hynes Convention Center. The Power Tools, MacIT and Users Conferences will each have several sessions devoted to Tiger. Mac gurus who will be teaching the Tiger courses include: New York Times columnist and author, David Pogue; Houston Chronicle columnist and author, Bob “Dr Mac” Levitus; author and Macworld Magazine and MacFixIt columnist, Ted Landau; and Macworld Magazine senior writer, Dan Frakes, among others.

The Users Conference at Macworld Boston will offer hour-long sessions on a variety of topics, including: “The Mac OS X Tiger Supersession,” by Pogue; “David’s Favorite OS X Secrets,” by Pogue; “Tiger Power Features Revealed,” by Frakes; “Mac OS X Wizardry,” by Frakes and Landau, “Best of Mac OS X Hints,” by Rob Griffiths, founder & editor-in-chief, macOSXhints.com; and “How Small Business Innovates with Mac Technology,” by Michael Bayer, president of Computer Telephony Solutions.

The Power Tools Conferences provide two full days of intensive training on a specific topic. Conferences include: “Mac OS X Server – Advanced Concepts and Administration,” presented by Schoun Regan, CEO, The Mac Trainers; and “How to Become a Mac OS 10.4 Tiger Power User,” presented by LeVitus.

MacIT is an educational event presenting technical training on Mac IT tools and technology. MacIT sessions are presented in just over an hour-long sessions. A sample of Tiger sessions in the MacIT Conference include: “Successful Deployment and Migration of Mac OS X within a Publishing Environment,” by Daniel Dreiske, quality assurance manager, Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Iris Burdett, advertising systems specialist, The Palm Beach Post.; “Directory Services and Tiger,” by industry consultant Michael Bartosh; “Mac OS X Forensics,” by Derrick Donnelly of BlackBag Technologies; “Optimizing Network Performance on Mac OS X,” by Peter Sichel of Sustainable Softworks, “Mac OS X Server Web Services – Overview, Highlights, In Depth and Lessons Learned,” by F. Harvell, president, siteservices.net; and “Keys to the Kingdom: Mac OS X Server’s Security Secrets Revealed,” by Arek Dreyer, Dreyer Network Consultants.
