The ThinkSecret site is being shut down by court order. A message on the rumors site says: that “Apple and Think Secret have settled their lawsuit, reaching an agreement that results in a positive solution for both sides.
“As part of the confidential settlement, no sources were revealed and Think Secret will no longer be published,” the message continues. “Nick Ciarelli, Think Secret’s publisher, said ‘I’m pleased to have reached this amicable settlement, and will now be able to move forward with my college studies and broader journalistic pursuits’.”
In 2005, Apple sued Think Secret[/url], and Ciarelli, the Harvard University freshman who runs it. That suit pivoted on ThinkSecret’s detailed reports that winter on Apple’s latest iPod music players. The reports ran before Apple actually announced the products.
Dennis Sellers Says:
Munir, as I understand it, the site was shut down as part of the settlement between Apple and the Think Secret folks. In other words, in return for whatever considerations TS received, it was stipulated that the site be shut down. To me (and I may be wrong) that amounts to a court order.

Munir Umrani Says:
Dennis,
Your statement that, “The ThinkSecret site is being shut down by court order” is the first I’ve read about this. And you forgot to cite a source. Please clarify.
I was under the impression that ThinkSecret’s Nick Ciarelli and Apple reached an agreement on their own accord. This is the impression I got from Nick’s statement issued today.
Again, please clarify.
