Survey: three percent of teens own iPhones

According Piper Jaffray’s bi-annal survey of American teenage buying habits are any indication, three percent of students surveyed (and the research firm surveyed 980) already own iPhones and an additional nine expect to buy an iPhone in the next six months.
Additionally, 4.2 percent of 212 parents surveyed own iPhones. The survey also showed that iPod market share remained steady at 82 percent. Interest in buying a portable media player in the next 12 months increased from 42 to 47 percent, according to Piper Jaffray. Of the 36 percent of students who legally purchase music online, 79 percent said they use iTunes (down from 89 percent).
