A majority of senior executives in the entertainment industry believe that Apple has better products currently on the market, but that “Microsoft is coming on strong,” according to a recent survey of variety, broadcasting and theatrical film personnel by the In-Stat research firm.
The survey of 1,806 respondents also found that:
° Respondents felt that the best products currently on the market ran two-to-one in favor of Apple.
° Both Apple and Microsoft represent potential competitive threats to the entertainment business.
° Senior executives in all these industries were more likely than others to see piracy as a threat, possibly due to their focus on bottom-line issues, and seeing the bigger picture of the business.
° Over half of respondents saw the video game business as either somewhat or very important to their business in coming years.
