3Dconnexion has announced that its SpaceNavigator 3D device now supports Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 and Adobe Reader 8. The updated driver to make this necessary is free for registered users.

The SpaceNavigator works with select 3D applications on the Mac. The device gives precise and continuous visual control of 3D models within Photoshop CS3 Extended without switching tools, enriching the artist’s insight and comprehension of the content in a way not possible with a mouse and a keyboard alone, according to Rory Dooley, president of 3Dconnexion. The SpaceNavigtor software is Universal Binary, so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. It requires Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later.

The SpaceNavigator PE (personal edition) has a suggested retail price of US$59. The personal edition license supports non-commercial use of the device and offers online technical support only. The SpaceNavigator SE (standard edition) has a suggested retail price of $99. The standard edition license comes with an unrestricted user’s license and 2-years of full support (web, e-mail and phone). Upgrades from SpaceNavigator PE to SpaceNavigator SE licenses are $40.
