Should Apple introduce a version of Mac OS X for the OLPC?

OLPC News has an article comparing Windows XP and Sugar/Linux operating systems on the One Laptop Per Child XO-1. Reading this article started me thinking about why Apple hasn’t introduced a version of Mac OS X for the OLPC?
While Vista may not be able to scale in a way that it can run on such a low power device, we know that Mac OS X can (e.g. the iPhone and iPod touch). Apple could build a true “appliance” to attack the markets that some of the posters in the article (search for “first” as in “first world governments”) talk about.
If you’re not aware of the OLPC is a non-profit organization with the goal of creating educational opportunities for the world’s poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software. The OLPC XO-1 is a laptop designed collaboratively by experts from both academia and industry. It’s designed to be lightweight, rugged and inexpensive.
OLPC is funded by a number of sponsor organizations, including AMD, Brightstar Corporation, eBay, Google, Marvell, News Corporation, SES, Nortel Networks, and Red Hat.[2] Each company has donated two million dollars. Intel was a member for awhile, but resigned its membership in January 3, 2008, over disagreements with the organization’s founder, Nicholas Negroponte.
