Review: Sportfolio Duo a soft yet rugged sleeve for the MacBook Air

image If you need a sleeve that’s just big enough for your MacBook Air, the Sportfolio Duo from Marware is a good choice. It fits snugly to house and protect the “world’s thinnest laptop.”

The form-fitting, zipperless sleeve is available in four reversible color combinations: brown/blue, dark pink/light pink, blue/gray or black/grey. Unlike some Sportfolio products from Marware, the Duo isn’t meant to be a full fledged carrying case. Of course, you can simply stuff your MacBook Air inside and hit the road. However, there are no compartments for accessories, such as a power plug. The Marware sleeve is designed to offer an added layer of protection inside a backpack, briefcase, or bag.

The Duo retails for $34.99. That’s about the average price for MacBook Air sleeves, though if your budget is tight, you can forego a sleeve entirely and go with a good carrying case.

However, if you can afford a sleeve, the Sportfolio Duo is a good choice. It’s very soft and feels good to the touch. The thick lining and neoprene construction offers solid protection for a sleeve. The Duo’s vertical design lets you easily insert and remove the MacBook Air. The sleeve is also reversible, so you get two sleeves (at least colorwise) in one, though that wouldn’t be a factor to me.
