imageIn this week’s poll we’re asking: do you plan to buy a MacBook Air? You can read all about the new laptop here.

In our last poll we asked if you thought the new Apple portable was too expensive. Sixty-two percent of you said “yes” and 38 percent said “no.”

The “Macsimum MWSF 2007 Coupon Book” is available for download. You can find it here and print it as a PDF. It has discounts, special offers and promotions.

yes I will get one - I believe this new laptop will be a great companion to my pro tower when I travel -this is the first time I have be so interested in having a laptop due to the weight, size and thinness ....  also - the expense should not be an issue with top-of-the-line tech - it alway ends up being worth more that what you paid for in terms of productivity!

Cheers Gavin

Katie Says:

No I will not buy a MacBook Air.  As a professional in the video/television industry it is just not practical…

Robert Pritchett Says:

No way! In my view, it is a “compromised” machine with add-ons to get the functionality it really needs and deserves. I expect newer machines to come out with solid-state drives across the board and other next-gen technologies - without compromises.

Richard P. Says:

Apple has a reputation for superior “form and function” design—starting with industry-leading function first, then form.  The MBA however seems to have begun life with form as the priority in its design, then function—a dubious first for Apple.

No, I will not be replacing my aging 12” PowerBook G4 with the MBA as I had hoped a month ago. In my work I can’t afford the compromises in function that Apple had to make to achieve this attractive form factor. But my guess is that the MBA will evolve into a better balance of form and function, as well as a better price point, in a year or so. Until then, well, I will be upgrading my PB’s hard drive, RAM and OS—hoping it will suffice until the second generation of the MBA is introduced.

Bob D Says:

No. I want an Apple subbotebook badly, but need a smaller footprint - 10” screen, I could even live with 7” - and need to be able to swap in a second battery in a travel machine.

Jack Says:

I was going to buy MacBook Pro to replace my PowerBook G4. But now I will buy an iMac and MacBook Air.

Kathleen Says:

I would, if I could afford it. That is not to say it is too expensive. Whenever Apple has come out with a revolutionary laptop, it is about $3K.

KenC Says:

Yes. I will get one to replace my 12” AluPB. However, I’ll wait just a wee bit until any first-gen bugs are out, and I’ll probably look at the refurb store too, to see how much better a deal one can get there. $1500, would be about right.
