PMA: Aperture goes Universal Binary

Apple unveiled a Universal Binary version (1.1.) of Aperture, their pro photo editing software, at this week’s PMA (Photo Marketing Association) Convention. This means it can run natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs such as the new Intel iMac and MacBook Pro.
Version 1.1, which will ship in March, will bring many user-requested features to the application, reports PDNOnline. The update, which will be free to 1.0 users, will be made available when Apple updates its suite of Pro applications, making them available on the Intel processor Macs.
Apple released version 1.0 of Aperture on Oct. 19, 2005. A post production tool that the company says it “provides everything photographers need after the shoot.” Think of it as iPhoto pro. The pro software, which costs US$499, offers compare and select tools, nondestructive image processing, color managed printing and custom Web and book publishing.
