Pervasive Software, which specializes in embeddable data management and agile integration software, has developed a a custom version of Pervasive PSQL 10 that runs natively on Mac OS X. This marks the first time Pervasive has teamed with a partner, Abacus Research, to develop solutions specifically for the growing market of Mac business users.
Abacus Research, a Switzerland-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications vendor, approached Pervasive to help the company reach potential ERP customers who work primarily in creative fields, including architects, designers and media firms. To meet areas of the market that traditionally use Mac computers rather than PCs, Pervasive’s engineering team designed a strategy to port a custom version of Pervasive PSQL from Linux to Mac OS X.
The result is Pervasive PSQL running on the server side in a Mac-only environment. Additionally, ABACUS was able to adapt 450 modules of its digital ERP suite for Mac on the desktop.
