image As reported yesterday, IBM has resolved its lawsuit against former IBM employee, Mark D. Papermaster, freeing him to go to work at Apple. And Apple has made it official, announcing today that Papermaster will start work as senior vice president of Devices Hardware Engineering on April 24.

He’ll report to CEO Steve Jobs (who’s on a medical leave of absence through June). Papermaster will lead Apple’s iPod and iPhone hardware engineering teams. He has 25 years of product and technology experience, and was previously a vice president at IBM.

Papermaster has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1988. He’s active with the University of Texas where he is a member of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Council.
