iZotope has announced Ozone 4, a new version of the software mastering suite. Mac OS X compatible, it has updated and expanded processing algorithms that are optimized for today’s low-latency DAW environments.
What’s more, Ozone 4 features a new Intelligent Loudness Maximizer, Perfect Reconstruction crossovers, mid/side processing for superior control over the sound stage, and a new True Envelope dynamics processing mode. In addition, numerous interface improvements and ease-of-use additions make Ozone even more accessible to musicians and engineers who want to quickly finalize their projects, according to the folks at iZotope.
iZotope Ozone 4 will be distributed worldwide by M-Audio, and will also available direct from iZotope online. Ozone 4 will be available in January of 2009. Customers who buy Ozone 3 after October 1, 2008 are eligible for a free upgrade to Ozone 4 when it is released. Existing Ozone 3 customers will be able to upgrade for only $79 (US).
Ozone combines analog modeling with 64-bit digital features to deliver an integrated suite of mastering processors. All processing is done via 64-bit DSP until final output. Ozone’s toolset includes an 8-band paragraphic equalizer with linear phase, tube-modeled and matching modes; mastering reverb with plate and modeled algorithms; intelligent loudness maximizer with brick-wall peak limiter and multiple detection modes; real-time analysis; and features MBIT+ dithering for psychoacoustically optimal word length reduction. It provides metering for correlation, phase, dynamics, gain reduction, dithering and more. It also features multi-band dynamics, harmonic exciter and frequency-dependent stereo imaging.
