Nexicon, a supplier of anti-piracy and network security solutions, has released NexiONE, which users to access their remote computer networks from any Internet-ready computer by using a USB thumb drive.
NexiONE purportedly mitigates the risk of a malicious attack by connecting to the remote network from its own, proprietary UNIX-based operating system. When a user inserts the NexiONE USB thumb drive into a computer with online connectivity, NexiONE’s operating system automatically connects to the Internet and opens a secure “tunnel” back to the user’s network. From here, the user can securely access software applications or files stored on the remote network.
NexiONE 1.4, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2008, will include functionality to support commercial customers. It will have an US$300 – $500 price point per unit.
