Newer Tech takes it to the Guardian MAXimus

image Newer Technology has released the Guardian MAXimus, a FireWire 800/FireWire 400/USB 2.0 hardware RAID-1 (mirrored) data redundant solution with up to 1TB of storage capacity. It provides “live activity” backup/data redundancy via RAID 1 hardware mirroring, so that in the event of a hard drive failure its uninterrupted full data accessibility RAID-1 redundancy will ensure that there’s no data loss. 

Front panel LEDs display drive access and status information. Guardian MAXimus provides FireWire/USB plug and play, so no configuration is needed. It can have data accessed via any of its supported interfaces or moved between different systems utilizing those interfaces with complete interoperability.

Guardian MAXimus is available immediately in five pre-configured 7200RPM solutions, from 250GB to 1.0TB, priced starting at US$319.99 from NewerTech’s exclusive distributor, Other World Computing, as well as through the retail channel.  The 0GB “Add Your Own Drives” kit is also available for $179.99. Guardian MAXimus is compatible with Apple OS 8.6 to 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.1.x and later (Mac OS X 10.2 or later is required for FW800 and USB 2.0), and Windows ME and later operating systems. It includes ProSoft Engineering Data Backup 3, NovaStor NovaBACKUP and Intech SpeedTools Utilities software.
