imageFreedomVOICE Systems, a provider of business communication solutions, has announced that its Newber application has been submitted for approval to Apple App Store. Newber provides a second business line for the iPhone, though users can choose to take their inbound calls through any available phone.

Newber’s patent-pending technology uses a combination of GPS, cellular positioning, and WiFi to automatically detect nearby phones as defined by the user. From within the application, Newber users can toggle between taking calls on their iPhone and having them come to a nearby phone instead.

Newber even allows users to change phones during a live call without interrupting the conversation. Outbound calls can be placed from within the application and will use the Newber business line for caller ID.

Newber is slated to be a free download, but requires the activation of a service account when first launching the application. Newber service is priced at US$5 per month plus two cents per minute for domestic calling. There is a five dollar activation charge, offset by a waiving of the first monthly service charge. International calling is also available.
