Ranchero Software has updated NetNewsWire to version 3.1.7b7. The new beta fixes a bug where opening the preferences window could cause NetNewsWire to ask for your FTP syncing password, even though you don’t use FTP syncing.

Also, the microformats feature has been removed, which has led to better performance loading HTML, according to the folks at Ranchero Software.

NetNewsWire is an application, which stores and downloads all of your RSS feeds (Really Simple Syndication). Most sites these days have RSS feeds, which let you subscribe to them in an RSS reader of your choice, and when any updates are made to the site, you will be notified in NetNewsWire.

The app costs US$29.99. NetNewsWire requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. It’s Universal Binary update so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs.

“Macsimum News” is a proud supporter of Planet Gumbo, which feeds the hungry. We urge you to help them in their efforts.
