NetGear has launched new members of its ReadyNAS family or network-attached storage solutions: the ReadyNAS NV+ 1.5TB Gigabit Desktop Storage, the ReadyNAS NV+ 2TB Gigabit Desktop Storage, the ReadyNAS NV+ 3TB Gigabit Desktop Storage, the ReadyNAS NV+ 4TB Gigabit Desktop Storage and the ReadyNAS 1100 4TB Dual Gigabit Rackmount Network Storage.
The devices support Mac, Windows and Linux clients. Featuring Gigabit Ethernet interfaces with Jumbo Frames support to provide maximum data throughput speeds to and from the network backbone, the ReadyNAS supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and NetGear’s proprietary X-RAID technology that provides automated RAID expansion that enables users to scale from one to four disks and beyond. Hot-swappable hard drives enable users to swap out drives on-the-fly.
ReadyNAS supports volume sizes larger than 2TB, provides online X-RAID volume expansion, provides the option to save and restore system configurations, and enables the hardware devices to work more efficiently in larger office environment by limiting it to a single organizational unit in an ADS environment, according to the folks at NetGear. In addition, ReadyNAS provides support for VMware via NFS over TCP.
