imageApago has released PDF Shrink 4.2, a Mac OS X utility for reducing the size of PDF files, at this week’s Macworld Conference & Expo. PDF Shrink optimizes the content and structure of PDF documents.

The update adds the ability to process entire folders of PDF files and improves compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 (“Leopard”) and Adobe Acrobat 8. PDF Shrink is integrated into OS X’s “Save as PDF” menu, allowing users to create and optimize their PDF files in a single step. The utility also supports AppleScript and Droplets. Other features of PDF Shrink include optional encryption, support for JPEG 2000 image compression, and a “wizard” that allows non-technical users to easily customize settings for their requirements.

Now shipping, PDF Shrink 4.2 retails for US$35. Discounts for educational use or quantity purchases are available. A fully functional, 10-day demo version may be downloaded from the Apago web site. The PDF Shrink 4.2 update is free to registered owners of version 4 and higher. PDF Shrink 3.0 users may upgrade to version 4.2 for $14.

The “Macsimum MWSF 2007 Coupon Book” is available for download. You can find it here and print it as a PDF. It has discounts, special offers and promotions in conjunction with the upcoming Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco.
