4D Inc. has released the the first update of its flagship product, 4D v11 SQL, at this week’s Macworld Conference & Expo. 4D v11 SQL Release 1 (11.1) is fully certified for Mac OS X 10.5 (“Leopard”).

Developers can now use the latest 4D application to build business applications for the latest version of both Macintosh and Windows operating systems, says Laurent Ribardière, chairman and founder of 4D SAS. In addition, 4D v11 SQL Release 1 (11.1) includes support for the Japanese language in both new and existing databases, as well as in the application interface.

This release also includes a new set of commands to help developers analyze and optimize queries, extended support for Unicode that will allow developers to mix different languages in the same application menu, better control over case-sensitivity in the SQL Engine, and better compatibility in the print engine, Ribardière says.

This update is available free of charge for all licensed 4D v11 SQL users. Pricing for the 4D v11 SQL product line starts at $349. Upgrades and maintenance plans are also available. 4D v11 SQL developer products are available for download and purchase.
