To call the horrendously bad Who’s Your Caddy? a second-rate Caddyshack would be an insult to that comedy classic. More appropriately, Who’s Your Caddy? is a third-rate Caddyshack 2.
This is a predictable, raunchy fish-out-of-water comedy about a superstar rap mogul, C-Note (Big Boi), who runs into opposition when he tries to join the hoighty-toighty Carolina Pines Golf & Polo Club and butts head with its snooty owner (Jeffrey Jones). So C-Note buys the land adjacent to the golf club’s 17th hole and leverages his acquisition to gain membership. After this, it’s a battle as C-Note’s crew wreaks havoc at the prim and proper country club with their hard-partying lifestyle.
“Us-verses-them” comedies can be classics (see Caddyshack, Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds, among others). But there’s no one to root for in Who’s Your Caddy?. Blacks, whites, the rich and pretty much every human being onscreen are offensive, unfunny and unlikable stereotypes. The film is strictly formulaic with its vulgar humor, and the climatic golf shoot-out is dull.
Who’s Your Caddy? fails as mindless summer fun. It’s just mindless.
Who’s Your Caddy is rated R for violent content and language. Running time: 93 minutes. Macsimum rating: 2 out of 10. You can check out the films’ trailers on the QuickTime movie trailer site.
