Rage Software has updated MapDesign, a Mac OS X tool that lets you add interactive maps to your web sites using standards based HTML and CSS, to version 1.2. The upgrade adds integration with web authoring packages such as Rapidweaver.

MapDesign provides a way to create image maps for your web site that respond to user actions such as moving your mouse over certain sections of an image. Image maps are clickable images on a web site that behave differently depending on where a user clicks on the image. RAGE MapDesign offers a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) user interface, allowing you to visually create simple or complex image maps for your web site. In addition, RAGE MapDesign lets you add mouse-over and mouse-down effects using standards based CSS so you can easily make your web site stand out among your visitors.

RAGE MapDesign is Universal Binary so runs natively on both PowerPC and Intel Macs. It requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. MapDesign costs US$19.95, though version 1.2 is a free update for registered users.
