Amigo’s AQ Amigo Laptop is a portable, stereo laptop speaker system that can add some oomph to your MacBook or MacBook Pro’s speakers.
The Amigo perches on the lid of your laptop when it’s open and connects via USB so doesn’t need batteries. The speaker system uses NXT “Exciter” technology that generates bi-directional sound. That sound doesn’t equal a separate speaker system with subwoofer but it does add some depth to the shallow speakers that come on all laptops and adds some bite to the bass. Not bad for a $30 product. The Amigo has an output of 2×1.2 W RMS and frequency response of 180Hz to 20Hz.
The Amigo is small enough that you can slip it into a spacious laptop case. If you’re a road warrior, it’s a handy tool for fleshing out presentations. It’s also convenient for watching videos or listening to music on your laptop when you don’t want to use headphones.
