Macsimum Migration Kit: Exercise & fitness software

imageIn this week’s Macsimum Migration Kit, we’re looking at exercise and fitness software for the Mac. For those new to the column, Macsimum Migration is our term for companies moving from Windows machines to Macs—or at least adding or increasing the number of Macs they use. A Macsimum Migration kit is an overview of Mac OS X products for a particular occupation, such as dentistry, accounting, etc.

ADInstruments, Metabolic Module

The Metabolic module (shown) analyzes exercise physiology data recorded with the ML240 Metabolic System. It allows uers to perform metabolic calculations appropriate to exercise physiology. The extension and associated hardware are designed for the teaching market.

CalorieKing

CalorieKing is a diet and weight management application. You can record everything you eat and the exercise you do using an extensive (45,000 foods) food and exercise database, and then track your weight over time. CalorieKing’s personal profiling feature tells you exactly how many calories you need every day to lose, gain or maintain your ideal body weight.

Diet Pro

Diet Pro is a daily calorie and exercise tracking and monitoring database program for individuals who want to lose or gain weight by modifying their calorie intake or by increasing exercise. Entering all foods eaten each day creates the structure and accountability. Throughout the day, you can instantly monitor the amount of calories eaten that day with all calculations being done by your Mac.

DietController

DietController is a diet and exercise journal. You can use it with any weight loss plan to track and record your diet. Just enter the foods you eat each day and let the diet software do the calculations. Instant summaries allow you to manage and plan your calorie intake. Charts and reports show you your progress.

HealthEngage Diet & Fitness

HealthEngage Diet & Fitness is health and wellness softwarefor helping you manage and simplify exercise and diet programs. Meal plans can be taken from more than 6,700 foods, and exercises from more than 650 activities.

iWorkout for iPod

iWorkout for iPod lets you place these items on your iPod: 101 workout videos, trainer tips, illustrated fitness guides, nutrition & dieting essentials, exercise metronomes to time your reps, fitness charts, workout routines and more.

iYoga

iYoga is a virtual instructor for the personal creation of speech-synthesized yoga classes and other exercise sessions. To create a class with iYoga, type text to describe a pose and include a duration in seconds or breaths. Like an instructor guiding a class, iYoga will speak and time each pose, chime and move on to the next instruction.

Muscle

Muscle is a fitness journal for MacOS X. It’s geared toward weightlifting and general cardio exercises. Muscle! allows you to plan your workouts and track your progress with a tabular interface.

My CalStep

My CalStep is step and calorie tracking software that keeps you aware of your calorie intake as well as tracking your steps. You enter in each food and calorie value and My CalStep does the calorie tracking for you, showing you your day’s progress. Progress bars show you where you’re succeeding and when you need to pick up the pace, or put down the cookie.

PDAbs

PDAbs lets individuals, families, and personal trainers to organize their fitness goals and results.

Personal Training Workstation

Personal Training Workstation tracks workouts, supplement usage, diet, measurements and more. You can view a chart of how you are getting stronger or faster at any exercise, losing weight, or losing inches. You can also share workouts and diets through email.

Workout Printer

Workout Printer allows you to create exercise workout routines and then print out tracking cards for use anywhere and anytime that you workout.
