COMMUNITY NEWS – MEMBERS

1] – NCMUG: Averting Digital Disasters

Amateur hobyists and seasoned professionals know that a photo lost is often irreplaceable. Join the members of North Coast Mac Users Group on May 20 as they learn tips for avoiding digital disasters from a world-class expert: John Christopher of Drive Savers.

(Thanks to former Apple User Group Advisory Board member and NCMUG President Lorene Romero for this news.)

2] – iPhoned: Maui Mac Kicks Things Up a Notch

What does being iPhoned mean? The Maui Apple User’s Society website recognizes visits from mobile phones like the iPhone and automatically redirects the user to a page laid out specifically for mobile phones, primarily the iPhone.

With three simple buttons for contact phone numbers, information and a link to the Maps application, everything members need to know for the next meeting is just a click away.

The Diablo Valley Macintosh Users Group helps Macintosh users get the most out of their computers. Join them on May 17 for an all-day workshop with author and senior Macworld Magazine contributor Jim Heid. The workshop will cover creating great photos, movies, web sites and more using Apple’s iLife ‘08, and maybe even provide some tips for GarageBand and more.

4] – Macworld Encore: Dave Hamilton at New Hampshire Seacoast Mac

On Tuesday, May 13, Dave Hamilton of the MacObserver presented his Macworld Expo 2008 session titled “Running Your Mac Lean, Clean & Mean” to members of the New Hampshire Seacoast Mac Users Group. This standing-room-only event was one to remember.

When attendees have license plates like APL 2GS, you know you’ll fit right in. Kansas Fest, the only computer festival dedicated to the Apple II computer, will once again be held at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, from July 22-27. With the KFest Kookout, HackFest programming contest and more, this event is known as Summer Camp for Geeks.
