MacOSG: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one

imageDid you know you can have more than one iTunes Library connected to your iTunes? Personally, I have a very large iTunes Library (including a lot of video) and don’t want to carry all of it on my laptop, so I created another iTunes Library on an external drive at home. This strategy works great with a laptop, especially if you have a wireless Time Capsule or an external USB drive connected to a wireless Airport Extreme Base Station.

Below are instructions on setting up an additional iTunes Library or selecting one already created.

1. If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
2. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
3. You should see the following screen:










4. Select the iTunes Library you want to use or create a new one.
