Mac users in Australia and Singapore are apparently getting Mac OS X 10.5 (“Leopard”) early. It goes on sale today (Friday) at 6 pm (local times) in North America.

Australian Mac owners who placed advance orders for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard are starting to take delivery before the new operating system hits the shops, reports IT Wire. Due to time zone differences, Leopard officially goes on sale at 6 pm this evening. But people who ordered from the Apple Store began receiving their copies this morning.

However, some Apple retailers are holding Leopard launch parties this evening, IT Wire notes. Others are just staying open late to allow customers to buy their copies of Leopard.

Meanwhile, Mac users in Singapore are among the first to get their hands on Leopard , which was made available on Friday evening, notes Channel News Asia.

Steve Smith Says:

I live in Auckland, NZ and I had it delivered by a TNT courier at 8am on October 26th, which is 12 hours ahead of GMT. The only downside was having to wait 8 hours to finish work to install it!
