Mac software updates for May 8

Elgato has released EyeTV 3.0.2, a free update to the EyeTV 3 television software. The upgrade now fully supports digital television H.264 broadcasts in standard TV and HDTV resolutions.
Pieter Omvlee has released DrawIt 3.5, the latest version of his layer-based, vector-drawing and image editing application for Mac OS X. The upgrade adds support for Boolean operators, support for a vector ghost-mode for quick drawing and more.
Freeridecoding has released a free update (version 2.2.4) for SmartBackup, a backup tool for Mac OS X. The upgrade improves: handling of locked files; handling of disabled items at cleanup; progress indication; and error handling.
Hamrick Software has released Vuescan 8.4.71, a new version of the VueScan software for Mac OS X that’s designed to let users produce better digital images from color snapshots, negatives, slides and documents. The upgrade adds the ability to scan multi-page documents and more.
The OpenOffice.org Community has announced the public beta release of OpenOffice.org 3.0, a new version of the free office productivity software suite for various platforms including Mac OS X.
ProjectWizards has released Merlin 2.6 Beta 1, a new version of the Mac-based project management application. With the introduction of the new add-on web module, users can publish their projects over the web.
SecureMac has announced a beta release of MacScan 2.5.3. This new version fixes a bug when scanning for certain spyware files. MacScan 2.5.3b also features the latest spyware definition and tracking cookie blacklist files.
Calgoo has updated its cross-platform calendar sharing for iCal compatibility.
Rainer Brockerhoff has announced an update to Quay, a system utility for Mac OS X 10.5 (“Leopard”). Quay extends the Dock’s functionality, allowing the user to sort Stack menus in several useful ways, and see extra information for each item. Version now also shows version numbers for application icons, process information for running applications, and generates menus for Smart Folders. The user can also generate custom icons on both sides of the Dock.
