Mac software updates for May 15

app4mac has released CutX Content Filter 4.5 Beta 1 for Mac OS X. CutX is an extended site blocking plug-in designed for Apple’s Safari web browser. The basic purpose of the plugin is to empower Mac users to view the web as they like. People can block any web site with adult contents using keyword or domains lists. IT administrators can block the web sites of competitors or entertainment web sites.
Skype has released Skype 2.7.0.330, an update of its Internet telephonic software with improved firewall and router support.
David V. Kocher has updated Cyberduck, a file transfer app, to version 3.0. The upgrade adds support for file renaming and copying and support for copying files (WebDAV).
Adobe has released a public beta of Flash Player 10. Code-named “Astro,” it “introduces new expressive features and visual performance improvements that allow interactive designers and developers to build the richest and most immersive Web experiences,” according to Adobe.
HighPoint Technologies has introduced a firmware update for its RocketRAID 3522 host controller card to support booting on the Mac Pro and Xserve.
Robert Kuilman has released a new version of Media Catalog, a media indexing application for Mac OS X. In the 3.9 upgrade keyboard behavior is improved, the indexing procedure has been streamlined to automatically jump to the newly indexed volume and the quick-search behavior has been improved by adding the option to exclude words by putting a ’-’ (minus) sign in front of them.
Many Tricks has released Leech 1.1, a free update to its download manager for Mac OS X. With Leech, users can organize all of their downloads within one application. The upgrade adds: browser integration; a rule system to define individual download folders, as well as applications to open complete downloads based on a given download’s file type and host; a searchable downloads history; and various minor improvements and bug fixes.
The Mozilla group has released an alpha of its Thunderbird e-mail program for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. Among other things it sports integration with the Mac OS X Address Book.
