SoundTech Professional Audio has announced the LightSnake, an instrument-to-computer cable with embedded analog to digital converter and signal booster. It’s USB connectivity lets you plug a guitar, bass, keyboard or other electronic instrument directly into a computer.

According to Larry English, senior vice president of business development at US Music Corp. (the parent company of SoundTech), the LightSnake USB intelligent instrument cable features digital quality sound input without the need for a sound card and an embedded A/D chip technology with audio signal boost eliminates the need for additional signal conversion devices. Its “Live when Lit” technology cable ends light up indicating when sound is being transmitted. The LightSnake includes a 10-foot shielded cable, quarter-inch mini-adapter, and quarter-inch male to dual quarter-inch female splitter.

The LightSnake is compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS X 9.x. It will ship next month at a suggested retail price of US$69.99.
