Kensington Computer Products Group has announced the availability of the public beta version of a new Mac driver for the US$139.99 sd200v Notebook Docking Station with Video. This new driver enables the docking station to work with Apple laptops running Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later.
According to Frederic Frappereau, global product manager for Kensington, the new Mac driver makes Kensington’s sd200v the first docking station with video to give Apple laptop users instant access to an external VGA display, keyboard, mouse or up to five USB peripherals over one single USB 2.0 connection. Kensington’s use of DualView technology lets Mac users expand their work area across their notebook screen and an external monitor. A front-panel button instantly enables multi-monitor computing.
Frappereau says the Kensington sd200v Notebook Docking Station with Video is the ideal companion to notebooks that have limited USB ports, such as the MacBook Air. The docking station has stereo in-out & microphone-in ports that let you connect 2.1 stereo speakers or Internet chat headsets.
