ThinkMac Software has released iKana touch 1.0, an application for learning Japanese hiragana and katakana on your iPhone or iPod touch. It’s available at the Apple App Store for US$7.99.
iKana is an application for learning the Japanese phonetic scripts: hiragana and katakana. It features flash cards with stroke animations, spoken sound clips and example words.
iKana touch offers a speed recognition test and a writing test to aide memorisation. In the speed test you have to correctly identify a character before the time runs out. In the writing test you have to correctly trace each stroke in a character.
ThinkMac Software also sells iKana for Mac OS X.
