imageRecently, I showed you how to add a “Mac611” icon to an iPhone/iPod touch’s (using 1.1.3/1.1.4 software) Home screen. This week, I’m going to show you how to add a “Macsimum News” icon to your Home screen, so you can conveniently access Macsimum News with one simple touch.

First, enter “macsimumnews.com” in your Safari browser. After the page loads, tap on the ”+” symbol at the bottom of the window.

Next, tap on the “Add to Home Screen” button and the following window will come up. Then type in “Macsimum” and tap on the “Add” button as in the photo below.

The “Macsimum News” icon should show up as in the photo below. You can position it anywhere you want, just like any other icon.

So, next time you’re mobile and want to catch up with all the latest Mac news, simply tap on the “Macsimum News” icon.

Optimal viewing of Macsimum News on an iPhone/iPod touch

Simply double-tap on the first column and the articles will scale to fill the whole screen. Turning the iPhone/iPod touch horizontally will increase font size even larger for better viewing.

One more thing; if you want to add a personalized icon that will show up in a Home screen when people bookmark your Web site, simply create a square 57X57 pixel .png image, name it “apple-touch-icon.png” and upload it to the root directory of your Web site. The iPhone/iPod touch’s software will automatically add the curved corners to the image.
