HarperCollins Publishers plans to make digital book content available for the iPhone. As a pilot program, samples from 14 new titles, most debuting in August and September, will be made available online in an iPhone-compatible format through HarperCollins’ Browse Inside application.

Browse Inside is an application that allows consumers to sample pages of HarperCollins titles online. It’s been adapted for the iPhone platform by LibreDigital, a division of NewsStand. LibreDigital is a strategic partner in the ongoing development of HarperCollins’ global digital warehouse and its application to the Internet.

iPhone users going here will be able to view the first 10 pages of chapters one and two of 14 books in the initial offering. They can then click to buy or pre-order the book from a list of retailers.
