imageHappy birthday, Apple. At Macsimum News, we won’t recap the history of our favorite company, but we will offer some items and videos worth checking out to celebrate this historic day.

Apple’s iTunes music store seems to be rapidly becoming one of the most powerful retailers in the history of the world, and “never before have we seen global domination by one retailer in a product category. Apple is also possibly the most secretive retailer on Earth,” says the Australian Times.

A Agence France-Presse article looks at the “two Steves who changed the world.” “Steve Jobs, the tech-savvy marketing genius, and Steve Wozniak, who invented the Apple computer, have between them revolutionized world culture over the past three decades,” the article notes. Meanwhile, a MacNewsWorld article says Apple may be three decades old, but is still fresh.

In a MarketWatch video Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster explains why he has no concern about Apple’s share price, explains why he’s not concerned about the recent pullback in Apple’s stock and why he remains bullish on the company as the company turns 30. And a a video dedicated to Apple’s anniversary is circulating on Spanish sites.

Meanwhile, Forbes asks where is Apple going in the years ahead? For example, to make sure his company “hasn’t peaked,” CEO Steve Jobs needs to “push forward with his ongoing mission to turn his premium-priced computers into mass market must-haves.” Apple must also take advantage of the delay of Windows Vista and “needs to find ways to sell more iPods,” notes Forbes. Uh? More iPods. The company has sold over 42 million so far.

Along the same lines, the Financial Times says that Apple is rosy at 30 but must plan for middle age. One thing that must be addressed: the successor (at some point in the future) for Jobs.

And a CNET story asks “If Apple Computer is so great, how come it’s so small?” “With all the hoopla surrounding the company—and you’ll hear a lot this week as Apple turns 30—you’d think it pulled off the first manned spaceflight to Neptune or invented long division,” Michael Kanellos, editor-at-large asks. “Instead, the company’s recent accomplishments include making it possible to buy Foghat singles on the Web and selling a leather pouch for music players for $99.”

Meanwhile, Forbes looks at 20 great moments in Apple history, Apple’s iconic ads, the company’s biggest duds and Apple’s CEO “soap opera”. And over at Wired News, there are looks at Apple’s “finest flip-flops” and “Steve Jobs’ best quotes ever”.

So read away and enjoy. And here’s to another fascinating 30 years.
