imageGriffin Technology has announced the iTrip AutoPilot, an $99.99 FM Transmitter that’s compatible with the iPhone and iPods as far back as the 40GB iPod click wheel model.

SmartScan technology scans the radio dial for you, finds the three clearest FM frequencies, and saves them as presets that you can recall at any time with a single button. The iTrip AutoPilot gets its power from your car’s cigarette lighter, charging a connected iPod or iPhoneas you use it. The mirror-finished tuning box features a clear OLED display.

As with all the iTrip family members, iTrip AutoPilot lets you listen to your iPod wirelessly through your car’s FM radio. The AutoPilot also adds a new twist to the classic car charger for iPod: Track Control. AutoPilot is a low profile power adapter that allows you to play, pause, and track forward or back without fumbling around for the iPod or iPhone while driving, according to the folks at Griffin. AutoPilot’s illuminated knob features symbols for play/pause and track forward/backward button controls.

It’s not yet available, but, according to Griffin, is coming “soon.”
