Griffin Technology has added new additions to its product families for iPod, including the iTrip Auto with SmartScan. The iTrip Auto, a FM transmitter for iPod, has been redesigned from the ground up with new features and a new look.
SmartScan technology scans the radio dial for you, finds the three clearest FM frequencies, and saves them as presets that you can recall at any time with a single button. The iTrip Auto gets its power from your car’s cigarette lighter, charging a connected iPod as you use it. The mirror-finished tuning box features a clear OLED display.
As with all the iTrip family members, iTrip Auto with SmartScan lets you listen to your iPod wirelessly through your car’s FM radio. The Griffin-exclusive ClearBoost technology ensures clear sound even near cities where the FM bands are crowded, according to company reps.
The AutoPilot also adds a new twist to the classic car charger for iPod: Track Control. AutoPilot is a low profile power adapter that allows you to play, pause, and track forward or back without fumbling around for the iPod while driving. AutoPilot’s illuminated knob features symbols for Play/Pause and Track Forward/Backward button controls.
Press the control surface with your finger, and AutoPilot purportedly gives you the tactile feedback that you don’t get from the multi-touch display of your iPod touch. What’s more, the AutoPilot features a line out port for stereo connection. It gives you fingertip control of the music, sound through the included AUX-in cable, and charging status at a glance.
Griffint’s new PowerBlock features folding prongs and a slim profile designed to wors well in crowded powerstrips. A LED Charge Indicator light glows green when your iPod is fully charged. The PowerBlock handles any AC voltage from 100V to 240V.
Griffin’s new iTrip Auto with SmartScan costs US$79.99. The AutoPilot is $49.99, and the PowerBlock is $29.99.
