Griffin Technology has released a black version of the iTrip that’s designed to complement the new iPod U2 Special Edition. The iTrip is a US$35 FM transmitter for the iPod.
The iTrip lets you play your music through any FM radio by choosing any radio station on the FM dial to tune for the best performance. You do this by “playing” special station codes directly from the iPod itself. The iTrip doesn’t need batteries; it draws its power from the iPod. There’s not even a power switch since it shuts off automatically after 60 seconds of silence, just like the iPod.
The iPod U2 Special Edition sports a black enclosure with a red Click Wheel and custom engraving of the rock band’s signatures. The 20GB device—it’s officially dubbed the iPod U2 Special Edition—holds up to 5,000 songs. It’s slated for release in mid-November at a suggested retail price of $349 through the Apple Store.
