Bob Drebin has been hired from AMD by Apple and is now serving as a senior director. He worked at AMD until January 2008.
“The just about a year interlude before joining Apple seems suspiciously like a non-compete/don’t-sue-me hiatus,” notes The Inquirer. “In any case, it looks like Apple has grabbed another good one.”
Prior to working at Apple Drebin was chief technology officer in the Graphics Products Group at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) from 2006-2008. He also served as an engineering director/fellow at ATI Technologies from 2000-2006 (ATI was bought by AMD). Other companies at which Drebin has worked include ArtX, Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI), Pixar and Lucasfilm.
Drebin is a graduate of Brown University, where he received an A.B. in Computer Science.
