Florence, S.C. school district gets iMacs, iPods

Middle and high school students in Florence (South Carolina) School District 1 will have the opportunity to prepare for a future in the areas of arts, audio-visuals, technology and/or communications with the purchase of $51,000 in iMacs made possible by a grant from The School Foundation , according to the Morning News.
The school is getting 27 iMacs, one for each school, and 24 iPods to be used in the classroom for podcasting. Apple donated 11 percent of the district’s purchase to the schools.
“The possibilities that these computers will provide for our students are endless,” Laura Greenway, the district’s music coordinator, said in a press release. “Today’s students are technologically advanced, and we believe that the opportunity to explore fine arts careers that require technical knowledge will open many doors for our students.”
