TidBITS and Take Control have released Take Control of Easy Backups in Leopard, an 81-page, US$10 ebook by Joe Kissell. It provides info on creating a complete Leopard backup system, which includes archiving, a bootable duplicate, and offsite backups.
The ebook offers step-by-step instructions about Time Machine, along with details Apple doesn’t provide. There’s also info about alternatives for seven cases where Time Machine won’t provide the backups you need.
Kissell also walks readers through every step of the way, from setting up your drive to explaining clearly how to recover your precious data in case of a deleted or corrupted file, a dead hard drive, or a stolen laptop. The author has written numerous books about the Mac, including many popular Take Control ebooks. He’s also senior editor of TidBITS, contributes frequently to Macworld magazine, and previously spent 10 years in the Mac software industry.
