Digidesign releases Mbox 2,Pro Tools Ignition Pack

Digidesign has introduced the Mbox 2 and the Pro Tools Ignition Pack.

The Mbox 2 is a next-generation USB-powered audio/MIDI production system that builds on the original Mbox personal studio product ever. The sequel sports a wide range of connection options (including analog, digital, and MIDI) and a flexible hardware interface.

Mbox 2 includes the Digidesign Pro Tools LE software, which offers tools to record, edit, mix, and master albums and produce sound for films. In addition, Mbox 2 comes with the Pro Tools Ignition Pack (see below), adding up to more than 50 plug-ins and instruments.

The Mbox 2 features include: four simultaneous inputs with analog and digital I/O; two analog inputs (XLR and 1/4-inch jacks) and two analog outputs (1/4-inch jacks); two channels of S/PDIF digital I/O (RCA); 48V phantom power for condenser mics; 24-bit/48 kHz audio; MIDI in/out; zero-latency monitoring; USB connectivity; support for streaming ReWire applications; and the Beat Detective LE groove analysis and correction tool.

Digidesign is also offering the Mbox 2 Factory, which offers more than US$1,050 in plug-ins for $100 more than the $499.99 Mbox 2. The Mbox 2 Factory bundle includes a complete Mbox 2 system and an iLok USB Smart Key with the following additional Digidesign and Bomb Factory plug-ins pre-authorized: Maxim, moogerfooger Analog Delay, JOEMEEK SC2 Compressor, JOEMEEK VC5 Meequalizer and Cosmonaut Voice.

The Pro Tools Ignition Pack, which is shipping with all new Digidesign Pro Tools|HD and Pro Tools LE systems, consists of composition and production tools for music and sound creation. It also features the Pro Tools Method One instructional DVD to help users get started with their Pro Tools system, a three-month trial subscription to an industry magazine, and a free one-year Broadjam.com membership to help independent artists promote their music around the world.

The Pro Tools Ignition Pack includes:

° Ableton Live Lite 4 Digidesign Edition. Pro Tools users can compose, record, remix, improvise, and edit musical ideas with this sampler/sequencer. Live’s “elastic audio” sequencing modifies loops in real time so users can drop multiple loops into a song regardless of their pitch or tempo.

° Propellerhead Software Reason Adapted 3. Specially developed for Pro Tools systems, this latest version of Reason Adapted includes avirtual rack of synthesizers, samplers, and effects that can stream directly into the Pro Tools mixer through ReWire.

° FXpansion BFD Lite. FXpansion BFD Lite allows users to work with virtual acoustic drum kits and individual samples.

° IK Multimedia SampleTank 2 SE. This is a streamlined sample playback module that provides access to a variety of sounds. This edition includes new synth/sample engines, high-quality effects and more.

° IK Multimedia AmpliTube LE. This is a plug-in with a variety of amp and cabinet models, classic stomp boxes and other effects

° IK Multimedia T-RackS EQ. Borrowed from the T-RackS analog mastering suite, T-RackS EQ is a tube-modeled parametric EQ that can be used for both mixing and mastering.

° Celemony Melodyne uno essential. This enables users to tune mono audio tracks, edit the timing of melodic lines, or completely rearrange parts.

° Bunker 8 REX File CD. This is a collection of REX files.

Customers who purchased a Pro Tools|HD or Pro Tools LE system on Aug. 1 or later are eligible to receive a free Pro Tools Ignition Pack bundle. Those who a Pro Tools|HD or Pro Tools LE system before August 1 can purchase the Pro Tools Ignition Pack bundle for US$99 until September 30 through the DigiStore.
