Control4, Control UI collaborate on iPhone, iPod touch app for home control

imageControl4, which makes IP-based home control and entertainment systems, has released two new products compatible with the iPhone, iPod, and iPod touch.

The first is an application developed in partnership with Control UI that enables the iPhone or iPod touch users to access Control4’s home automation system. The second product is the Control4 Dock for iPod, which enables music and videos on the iPod to be integrated into the Control4 system.

By downloading an application developed by Control UI to the iPhone or iPod touch and adding software to the Control4 system, users now have the option to access the system from an iPhone or an iPod touch. The hand-held interface is the same as on the Control4 family of touch panels and on-screen interfaces. Users will have complete access to any aspect of the system including security, lighting, temperature control, multi-room music, and home theater control and more, says Control4 CEO Will West.

With the Control4 Dock for iPod, you can plug in an iPod or iPod touch into a Control4 system, and all of the music loaded on the iPod can be accessed throughout the home. The iPod’s songs and playlists will appear on all of the Control4 displays. Even video stored on the iPod can be accessed locally and controlled with the Control4 system.

Shipping in November, the Control4 Dock for iPod will retail for US$299.
