Comic book may soon be appearing on your mobile phone thanks, in part, to the upcoming launch of the iPhone 3G, according to a Red Orbit report. Businessmen reading comic books are a common sight in Japan, but as publishers have increasingly begun to digitize their comics, readers will soon be eyeing their phones instead, the article adds.
The iPhone 3G launch on July 11 could increase the growth of the mobile comic book market since its touchscreen will make it easier and more attractive to read digital comics, notes Red Orbit. Mobile carriers are providing better digital content and data transmission services to increase profits in one of the most mobile savvy cultures in the world. Internet surfing, e-mailing, and music-downloads are already popular mobile services in Japan, and experts predict comics will be the next wave of popular digital content with the number of titles currently soaring, adds Red Orbit.
