ColourMod, Google News, All Around widgets top list

The three Dashboard widgets topping the list DashboardWidgets at the end of the day on Monday were:

° ColourMod, a color picker brought to you by Teevio and The Noah Institute. It lets you select any color you want. You can make fine adjustments via the textfield inputs or by dragging the color sliders. ColourMod outputs Hex, RGB, CMYK and HSV values and converts between the four.

° Google News, a widget that gives you access to eight Google news feeds right on your Dashboard, including topics like sports, entertainment, world news, and technology. Clicking on a headline will bring you directly to the news article. In addition, you can search Google News right from the widget and it will display the top 10 results for you right in Dashboard.

° All Around the Wall, a 3D puzzle game in which you destroy all the colored cubes by attaching three or more cubes of the same color together. Sometimes the whole thing will spin round and go up, so you need to finish before reaching the “Top of the Universe,” an ugly place where everything explodes and giant “game over” texts appear in front of you.

DashboardWidgets is a Web site devoted to a complete overview of the Dashboard technology in Mac OS X 10.4 (“Tiger”) and widgets that are released daily. Dashboard is a semi-transparent layer of Tiger that zooms across your Desktop with a single button click, similar to the way Exposé works. Dashboard is home to a new kind of application called Widgets, which are mini-applications written in JavaScript and “designed for fun as well as function.”
