Cingular has confirmed that the release date for the iPhone will be June 11, reports CNET. “A customer service manager at Cingular (we called 800-947-5096 and were transferred to sales) gave us that date late Thursday, but, alas, said he didn’t have any additional information beyond that,” the article adds.
Not coincidentally, June 11 is the first day of Apple’s 2007 Worldwide Developers Conference, which will run June 11-15 (however, the focus of WWDC is expected to be on Mac OS X 10.5, or “Leopard”). Last year it was held in August and saw the introduction of the Intel version of the Mac Pro.
The iPhone, combines three products—a mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and an Internet communications device with email, web browsing, searching and maps—into one small and lightweight handheld device. It will be available in Europe in late 2007, and Asia in 2008, in a 4GB model for US$499 and an 8GB model for $599. The iPone will be sold in the US through Apple’s retail and online stores, and through Cingular’s retail and online stores. Cingular will be the exclusive wireless provider in the U.S.
Lee Stanford Says:
iPhones under the seat would be amazing, but I would settle for, “Out in the lobby is a table where you can buy one and be the very first to get one.”
I have a feeling getting an iPhone in June is going to be VERY VERY difficult. How about giving loyal Apple developers a first crack at them? There are no better evangelists…

J. Scott Anderson Says:
Wouldn’t it be nice for the keynote attendees is Steve were to say, “You can see your own iPhone, right now…just reach under your seat.”
